Invented by the Argentinian start-up Gi FlyBike, this bike is full of impressive features. Crafted from ultra lightweight aircraft grade aluminum, it can travel a distance of 60 km (40miles) on a single charge. It is also equipped with a smartphone charger, a GPS navigation system and automatic safety-smart LED lights and built-in rear lights which can be controlled remotely with an app. Gi FlyBike will even lock automatically once you are 3 meters (10 ft) away from the folded bike, and it also has anti-puncture tires and (non grease) belt drive. As far as safety is concerned, TUV ensures that Gi FlyBike complies with EU laws for electric bikes.
Their crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter surpassed the initial goal within the first 5 hours of launching, and now the company pre-sells Gi FlyBike on Indiegogo at 50% less than the retail price. According to their timeline, they are currently on the stage of mass production, with the first deliveries to be made in June.
Gi Flybike’s inventors are a team of mid-30s Argentinians who got the inspiration from a national strike that paralyzed public transportation across the country. They noticed that people wanted the kind of independence that is incompatible with public transport, as well as the agility which cars cannot offer, with as little environmental impact as possible.
