China’s first driverless sky train had its first trial run on May 9, in Wuhan’s hi-tech park.
This is the country’s first commercial sky train, and it is expected to open to the public in 2023.
Construction of the line for the monorail lasted just 7 months, while the train can carry up to 200 passengers at a top speed of 60 km/h at its 10.5 km long track.
The main purpose of this sky train is to be used as a commuting method between facilities in big cities, as chief designer, Wang Kecheng notes.
Finally, this type of train’s main advantages are its short construction times, at the cost of one fifth compared to conventional subways.
