Ideal for emergency situations and off-grid outdoor adventures
It is called KaliPAK and according to the manufacturing company Kalisaya Power and their Indiegogo campaign, it is the most lightweight and powerful portable solar energy generator, intended to replace the diesel generator as the first choice for off-grid power. KaliPAK is a complete solar power system in a briefcase/backpack that can be set up quickly and easily, yet providing enough electricity to power small devices ranging from a light bulb to a laptop (it is not suitable though for powering major appliances such as electric ovens, water heaters, refrigerators etc). The solar panels are stored folded-up inside the case and can be quickly positioned using the included directional fixture to angle them toward the sun, optimizing the feed of electricity into the device. The device’s small dimensions (33.7cm * 14.7 cm) and waterproof cover make it ideal for transport.
KaliPAK seems to deliver the best energy to weight ratio, as it is quite powerful while featuring a weight of 6.9 kg for the heaviest model. There are 3 different models, ranging from the entry-level 201 (20W solar panels & 192Wh battery) to the 401 (40W solar panels & 384 Wh battery) and up to the strongest 601 (40W solar panels & 562Wh battery). KaliPAK is equipped with a high-capacity Lithium-Ion battery, and can simultaneously charge up to four mobile devices via USB ports, while at the same time providing up to 60 hours of continuous power for portable area lighting. Along with the basic system, KaliPAK units also come with an LED light, an inverter for running AC devices, a car lighter adapter, a waterproof light with a 7800 mAh battery pack, and a USB splitter for charging multiple devices from a single port.
