Building Evacuated, Then Collapses: Paceville Incident Timeline

On June 10, 2025, serious structural concerns emerged at Tania Flats in Paceville, St Julian’s. Following an inspection led by architects and authorities, including the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA), a stop works notice was issued. The action was triggered by visible signs of distress within the building’s structure. After coordinated discussions involving the police and engineering professionals, 32 residents were evacuated from the premises as a safety measure.

The property, situated next to a site under development, had raised concern due to worsening conditions. The demolition activity nearby had concluded weeks prior, reported that their architect had been among those who flagged the building’s compromised integrity. The company involved has denied any connection between their construction activity and the collapse, stating that it is cooperating fully with ongoing investigations.

Shortly after the evacuation, the building fully collapsed, leaving the Paceville district covered in dust. Videos circulated widely on social media show thick plumes engulfing the area as emergency personnel secured the site. Thanks to the early intervention of structural experts and prompt communication between agencies, no casualties occurred.
